Open toolTwo versions of a text and no idea what actually changed? Paste the original on the left and the revised version on the right, and this free text diff checker lines them up: lines that were removed glow red, lines that were added glow green, and unchanged lines stay plain. It is the quick way to review an edited contract clause, check what a freelancer changed in your copy, compare two product descriptions, or verify that an AI rewrite kept your key details. The comparison runs line by line in your browser — neither text is uploaded, saved or sent anywhere.
A freelancer's rewrite of a product description shows 3 lines changed and 1 removed — the warranty line — which the side-by-side diff makes impossible to miss.
The checker finds the longest sequence of lines both texts share in the same order (a classic longest-common-subsequence diff). Lines in the original that are not in that shared sequence are shown as removed; lines in the revision outside it are shown as added. A sentence that was edited appears as one red line (old wording) and one green line (new wording) — the standard way developers and editors review changes.
Because the comparison is line-based, editing one word marks its whole line as changed — and if a paragraph is a single long line (common when pasting from some editors), the whole paragraph shows as one removed and one added line. For finer detail, break long paragraphs into lines or sentences before comparing. That keeps each change isolated and the result much easier to scan.
Yes — anything made of lines works: code snippets, CSV rows, keyword lists, terms and conditions, email drafts. It is especially handy for checking that a list edit removed only what it should, or that two versions of a web page's text differ only where you expected. Very long documents (tens of thousands of lines) may take a moment on a phone; desktop browsers handle them quickly.
No. Both texts are compared by JavaScript running in your own browser tab; nothing is uploaded, logged or kept after you close the page. That makes the tool safe for contracts, unreleased copy and internal documents — the exact kinds of text where you most need a diff and least want a third party reading it.
