PDF Splitter & Extractor

A 40-page report where you only need pages 6 to 9, or a combined scan that should really be four separate documents — splitting is the other half of PDF housekeeping. This tool does both jobs: extract a page range into one new PDF, or split the whole document into one file per page, delivered as a tidy ZIP. Pages are copied structurally with pdf-lib, never re-rendered, so text stays selectable and quality is untouched. And because it all runs in your browser, the document — however sensitive — never leaves your device.

Choose a file to begin — nothing is uploaded, everything happens on your device.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose the PDF to split — its page count is shown.
  2. Pick a mode: extract a page range, or split into single pages.
  3. For a range, enter the first and last page numbers.
  4. Click Split PDF and download the file (or the ZIP of pages).

Worked example

Extracting pages 2–3 of a 4-page PDF produces a tidy 2-page file; splitting the same document gives four single-page PDFs in one ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Does splitting reduce the quality of the pages?

No. Like the merger, this tool copies pages structurally — the extracted PDF contains the very same page content as the original, so text remains text and images keep their resolution.

How do I extract non-continuous pages, like 2, 5 and 9?

Extract them one range at a time (2–2, 5–5, 9–9), then combine the three small files with the PDF Merger in the order you want. Or open the PDF Editor, delete the pages you don't need, and save what remains.

What is inside the ZIP in split-all mode?

One PDF per page, named page-1.pdf, page-2.pdf and so on, in document order. The ZIP is built in your browser too — nothing is uploaded to create it.

My PDF is locked. Can I still split it?

A password-protected PDF cannot be opened by this tool. Unlock it first with the Unlock PDF tool (using its password), then split the unlocked copy.
