Age Calculator — How Old Am I?

How old are you, exactly — not just in years, but down to the month and day? This free age calculator works it out from your date of birth: your exact age in years, months and days, the total number of days and weeks you have lived, the day of the week you were born on, and a live countdown to your next birthday. Use it for forms and official paperwork, school and sports age cut-offs, retirement planning, or simple curiosity. You can also calculate age at any other date — past or future — by changing the "age at date" field, which is handy for checking eligibility on a specific deadline. Everything runs in your browser; your birth date is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How is my exact age in years, months and days calculated?

The calculator subtracts your date of birth from the "age at" date, borrowing days from the previous month and months from the previous year the same way you would do it on paper. If the day-of-month of the end date is smaller than your birth day, it borrows the number of days in the month before the end date; if the month is smaller, it borrows twelve months from the year. The result is the standard "completed years, months and days" figure used on forms.

Does this age calculator handle leap years correctly?

Yes. Total days lived is counted on the real calendar, so every 29 February you have lived through is included. For the years-months-days figure, a birthday on 29 February is treated as reached on 1 March in non-leap years, which is the convention most official forms use — a handful of countries use 28 February instead, so check local rules for legal cut-offs.

How do I check my age on a specific date, like a school cut-off?

Enter your date of birth, then set the "age at date" field to the cut-off date — the first day of school, a competition deadline, or a visa appointment, for example. The calculator shows exactly how old you (or your child) will be on that date, which is the figure admissions and eligibility checks actually use.

Why do some forms ask for age in completed years only?

Most official forms want your age at your last birthday — the number of full years you have completed. If this calculator says you are 24 years, 11 months and 20 days old, the "completed years" answer for a form is simply 24. You turn 25 on your next birthday, even though you are already in your 25th year of life.
