AI Thumbnail Analyzer

Upload the thumbnail exactly as you exported it, and this analyser judges it the way a scrolling viewer does: is the text readable at phone size, is there one obvious focal point, does the contrast survive a bright feed, and does it raise a question the title answers? You get a score out of 100, the strengths worth keeping, and a fix list ordered by impact — specific instructions ('cut the text to 3 words', 'outline the subject') rather than vague advice. The image is resized in your browser before sending and is not stored; it is used for this one analysis only.

The image is resized in your browser first, then sent to the AI for this one analysis. It is not stored.

This tool is powered by AI running on a free service tier, so a generation can occasionally take a little longer or ask you to retry at busy times. Your input is sent only to produce your result — it is not stored.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose your thumbnail image (JPG or PNG, as exported).
  2. Click Analyse thumbnail — the image is sent to the AI for this one check and is not stored.
  3. Read the score, strengths and the fix list.
  4. Apply the top fix first and re-analyse to see the score move.

Worked example

A busy thumbnail with five words of small text scores in the 50s, with fixes like “cut the text to 3 words”, “add a dark outline behind the subject” and “enlarge the face to fill the left third”. After those edits, the same image scores markedly higher.

Frequently asked questions

What score should I aim for?

Treat 80+ as publishable, 60–79 as 'fix the top item first', and below 60 as 'redesign'. The number is a guide for comparing your own versions — the fix list is where the real value sits.

Does it judge my thumbnail against my title?

It judges the image alone, since that is the brief you gave it. For the pair test, cover the title and ask if the thumbnail still intrigues; cover the thumbnail and ask if the title still promises. Both halves must work solo and together.

Why does it keep saying my text is too small?

Because on a phone your thumbnail renders about 360 px wide — text that looks fine in your editor becomes a rumour. The analyser judges at that scale, which is the only scale viewers ever see.

Is my image stored or used for training?

No. It is resized in your browser, sent once for this analysis, and not kept by this site. The result you see is the only copy of the analysis.

Can I analyse a competitor's thumbnail?

You can — save their thumbnail and upload it. Seeing why a rival's image scores higher, item by item, is one of the fastest thumbnail educations available. Just do not re-upload their image as your own.
