Salary to Hourly Calculator
Is that job offer actually better paid than your current one? It is hard to tell when one is quoted as a salary and the other as an hourly rate. This free salary to hourly calculator — an hourly to salary converter as well — converts both ways using your real schedule — your hours per week and weeks worked per year — and breaks hourly pay down into daily, weekly, monthly and annual figures. It is built for employees comparing offers, freelancers setting their rates, and small employers working out what a new hire really costs per hour.

Salary to hourly calculator FAQs
How do I convert a salary to an hourly rate?
Divide the annual salary by the total hours you work in a year: hours per week × weeks per year. For a standard 40-hour week and 52 weeks, that is 2,080 hours — so a $65,000 salary is $65,000 ÷ 2,080 = $31.25 per hour. This calculator lets you adjust both numbers if your schedule differs.
Should I use 52 weeks even if I get paid vacation?
If you are comparing salaried offers, yes: paid vacation is part of the salary deal, so 52 weeks keeps the comparison fair. If you are a contractor or freelancer who only bills for weeks actually worked, enter your real billable weeks (for example 48) — your true hourly equivalent will be higher, and that is the number to compare against a salary.
Does this include taxes or benefits?
No — all figures are gross (before tax). Remember that a salary often comes with employer-paid benefits such as health insurance, retirement contributions and paid leave, while an hourly or contract rate usually has to cover those yourself. A contractor rate typically needs to be 20–30% higher than the equivalent salary just to break even.
